Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
